Those lovely people that are make lots of money, The Royal Mint, are running a super competition to design the 2012 edition of the 50p coin. The competition is open all of us who are over 13 years, UK residents and the lucky winner will see their design on the backs of 50p pieces used nationwide and will also receive a prize of £1000, (hopefully not all in 50p pieces).

Blue Peter is also launching the children’s versions of the competition for 6 - 12-year-olds to create a coin for athletics, and a coin for cycling will be chosen from secondary school entrants aged 13-19 years.

This is a fabulous idea, we love it, and we’ll be trying hard to be the winners, obviously it comes second to our Olympic training for the Jousting and Naked Gymnastics event, watch this space.
