Micro site design and development

Yeah, we know all about that friend’s cousin’s sister who wants to be a designer and designs sites over the weekend, we’ve also heard about that team in India who can code it for less than a Kids Meal at McDonalds – kind of. We’ve seen the results and we don’t want to see many more, it’s just not us

Ok now we’ve got that clear. Microsites, sometimes called minisites, are tactical websites that are off shoots of a parent brand site. Now don’t go confusing the two, they are a separate entity to present very specific information and often have their own URL (that’s a www. address to you and me).

But why go to the trouble? Well let us explain…

Campaign

We can create support for a specific campaign: changing an entire site to support a short run campaign would be crazy talk – although we have heard of it.

Crisis management

Heaven forbid you have a product recall, (you make shampoo and this batch makes people’s hair fall out). A microsite can be used to absorb brand negativity and avoid damaging brand equity associated with your main site.

Regional approach

Getting regional: If you’re a super duper, multinational, mega, conglomerate getting a small local tactical campaign to your main site is not a good idea! Enter the local microsite – simple really

Brand reach

Microsites are a great way to extend your brand reach without alienating your core market, and a great way to gauge brand development when measured correctly.

Technology

The IT department issue: We can launch a microsite that is more advanced and avoid having to retrofit the creative because of the constraints of the your existing IT issues.

Search engine optimisation

Search engineering benefits – more inbound and outbound links to your main site is better for your SEO. Just think how many microsites Coke utilises.
